What is a Meet n' Eat lunch?

An initiative to send you and two randomly chosen colleagues on a lunch break once a month. You will meet and talk to colleagues from different departments to whom you might not talk regularly or might even meet completely new faces.

What is the purpose with the lunch?

The meetings aim to boost communication between colleagues and between departments. You are encouraged to exchange experiences and talk about your current challenges at work in an informal atmosphere. You might get a better understanding of the company, hear about exciting activities in other teams or even realize your current problem has already been solved by others. Or you simply have a pleasant chat with your colleagues.  

How did you come up with the idea of the Meet n' Eat lunch?

By chance I met two colleagues at the restaurant at lunch. Even though I knew their names and had talked to them a few times, I realized I have no clue, what they are working with. We talked about our current tasks and challenges and we realized very fast that we can learn a lot from each other this way. This might have been the most motivating and insightful discussion I had in my first year at CellaVision. So, I thought about how to give such a possibility to everyone!

How can this lunch change the culture on a company?

We are a fast-growing company which (still) kept the benefits of a small one, like a flat hierarchy and a very open atmosphere for communications. By bringing together colleagues and boosting communication I hope to play a role in preserving this incredible culture, rather than changing it.

How many Meet n' Eat lunches have you had during your time at Cellavision?

Maybe 6 or 7, even though there had been only 5 iterations so far. Since my matching algorithm needs a number of participants, that is divisible by 3, I might have cheated sometimes and put my name in the pool twice. Currently during the Corona-pandemic we have stopped the lunch meetings, but I hope to continue soon again.
